✅ Previous experience in disability support work or a similar role is desirable.

✅ Demonstrated understanding of the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities, and a commitment to promoting their independence and inclusion.

✅ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

✅ Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Individual Support, or a related field (or willingness to obtain).

✅ Willingness to undergo relevant background checks and obtain necessary clearances.

✅ A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).

Full job description

Australian Disability Care Services (ADCS) is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Disability Support Workers. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling and independent lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities in accordance with their individualized care plans.
  • Assist participants with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks, while promoting independence and autonomy.
  • Support Residents/NDIS participants in developing and maintaining life skills, social skills, and community integration.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment that respects the dignity, rights, and choices of individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist with medication administration and monitoring, in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, their families, and other members of the support team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Observe and report any changes in the health or behavior of participants, and respond appropriately to emergencies or crisis situations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of Residents/NDIS participants progress, activities, and any incidents or concerns.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community service providers to ensure holistic and coordinated care for participants.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of disability support.
