NDIS For You

How to Choose the Right NDIS Provider for Your Home & Living Supports

Our goal is to provide the best possible support to help you achieve your goals and live a meaningful life. We create an environment where you feel supported, valued, and empowered.

Always choose a provider registered with the NDIS Commission

Make sure they offer the specific home and living options you need, such as SIL, ILO, or MTA.

Real feedback from participants and families tells you a lot about the quality of care you can expect.

A good provider builds your support plan around your goals, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

A provider based in Sydney will better understand the community, resources, and housing options near you.

Your provider should always keep you informed, explain your plan clearly, and be easy to reach when you need them.

When it comes to your home and living supports, choose ADCS — Sydney’s experienced, NDIS-registered provider that puts your goals first, keeps you informed every step of the way, and delivers care you can count on.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your questions about our Home and Living Support services.

ADCS provides a range of options to match where you are in your independence journey.

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL): daily assistance with personal care, household tasks, and community access in shared or individual homes
  • Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA): purpose-built or modified housing for participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs
  • Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA): temporary housing while you wait for your long-term home to be ready
  • Short-Term Accommodation (STA): brief respite stays for you and your carers
  • Individualised Living Options (ILO): flexible, self-directed arrangements designed around your personal goals

The right option depends on your NDIS plan, your goals, and the level of daily support you need.

These two supports are often confused, but they fund different things.

  • SIL funds the people who support you, covering the workers who assist with daily tasks
  • SDA funds the physical home, covering the cost of purpose-built or modified dwellings
  • You do not need SDA to access SIL, and not all SDA residents receive SIL
  • SDA is only available to participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs
  • Most participants in shared housing access SIL only

Knowing the difference helps you ask the right questions when planning your accommodation with ADCS.

Every participant at ADCS starts with a collaborative planning process.

  • Your support worker sits down with you, your family, and your existing support network
  • Together, you map your daily goals, personal preferences, and any medical or behavioural considerations
  • A customised plan is built to align with your NDIS goals
  • Plans are reviewed regularly as your needs or circumstances change
  • Support ratios, overnight arrangements, and daily routines are adjusted to match what your plan funds

Your plan stays yours; ADCS works around it, not the other way around.

Eligibility depends on your NDIS plan and the goals recorded in it. The NDIA assesses your functional capacity, your daily living needs, and the supports required for you to live as independently as possible. If home and living supports are considered reasonable and necessary for your situation, they will be funded in your plan.

We recommend speaking with your support coordinator or local area coordinator before applying. They can help you gather the evidence needed to support your request and ensure your plan reflects your actual living situation and goals.

Yes, you do not need to live in a shared home to access SIL. We offer support to participants who choose to live independently, provided the arrangement suits your needs and your plan funds it appropriately. Living alone with SIL is less common because shared arrangements generally offer better value, but it is possible where there is a clear justification.

If you want to explore solo living with support, ADCS will work with you to document the evidence needed to present to the NDIA. This includes outlining why the arrangement aligns with your goals and why shared housing is not a suitable option for you.

ADCS structures overnight care based on your safety needs and what your plan funds.

  • Active night support: a worker stays awake and on duty throughout the night
  • Sleepover support: a worker rests on-site and responds when needed
  • Call systems: you signal for help at any hour without requiring a worker on standby

Your NDIS plan determines which model applies, and ADCS reviews this if your needs change.

Yes, NDIS plans are not fixed documents. If your circumstances change significantly, such as a change in your health, your living arrangement, or your support requirements, you are able to request a plan review. The NDIA will assess the request and adjust your funded support accordingly.

We assist participants through this process. If your needs grow beyond what your current plan covers, the team can help you gather the clinical and functional evidence needed to request a higher level of support or a different accommodation arrangement.

ILO is a flexible funding type designed for participants who want a living arrangement built around their specific life, rather than fitting into a standard housing model. It works by combining informal support from people in your life with funded support workers, allowing you to design an arrangement that genuinely suits you.

ADCS supports ILO participants through the planning stage, helping you map the informal and formal supports available to you. The team works with you, your family, and your support network to build an arrangement that meets NDIS requirements while aligning with your personal goals and preferred lifestyle.

Getting started is straightforward. You do not need to have everything sorted before reaching out.

  • Contact ADCS directly through the enquiry form or phone to start the conversation
  • Bring your NDIS plan or plan summary if you have one; the team will work with what you have
  • A team member will go through your goals, your current living situation, and available options
  • If accommodation is needed, ADCS will share current vacancy details across Sydney locations
  • A personalised support plan is then developed before services begin

The sooner you reach out, the more time ADCS has to find the right fit for you.

  • Priority housing in NSW is for people with an urgent need — such as homelessness, risk of harm (like domestic violence or abuse), or an inability to find housing in the private market
